EiF has provided grants to qualified not-for-profit organizations to assist in improving communication skills of engineers by identifying successful approaches for including communication behavior into engineering curricula.

EiF has provided funding for programs that encourage middle school girls to pursue engineering degrees, and programs designed to improve the retention rate of undergraduate women in engineering.

Until 2016, EiF funded projects to improve information access in developing countries. This program area has been merged with the “Enhancing Communication and Use of Information in Engineering” program area.
